TENNIS DAY!!!

But it was so hot and humid in the gym.  I got to the gym a little early and did a little prep, but students were still in the gym.  I guess they had just finished a class so their heat just added to the natural heat.  So by the time we started playing it was over 30 degrees.  I was dripping within 20 minutes of play.  But is was a good session... sort of.

I started off really hot, literally and metaphorically.  Metaphorically speaking I was killing my serve, and I  won all my service games.  The last game of the set I won at love.  All the points were either aces or service winners.  Then, we switched partners and I had to start serving.  I practically double-faulted the game away.  Then I ended up losing all my service games.  I just couldn't get anything in in the second set.  I just hit a wall.  Also, I suspect it was because of the heat, but in my left hamstring, I was feeling as if I were about to cramp, so I was a little wary of that. I had some TOTALLY Awesome shots and then a bunch of totally SHANK shots.  I ran so hot and cold today it wasn't funny, but I need to get through these spells and find a way out.  But in sports, the bad days are just as important as the good days.  Learning to work through a bit of a slump is extremely important.  One thing I am pushing myself to do is not let up on my second serve.  In the past, if I had to win the game, I would just dink my second serve back.  NO MORE!!! Now, I just try to keep my head speed up and spin the serve in.  Even if I lose, I don't want to dink.  I have to become battle-strong.  By the end of the session, it was like I had jumped into a pool and just climbed out of the deep end.  Luckily, I didn't cramp up, but I needed a good stretch, but was too tired to do so.  That is why today I only played tennis.  I know I had a good workout if I can hardly walk hours later.

In the end, I torched just under 1500kcal.  Looking forward to next Monday so I can redeem myself.
